Orchestra students at Alamo Heights High School are highly encouraged to try out for the All-Region Orchestras.
What is All Region?
What is All Region?
- All-Region (12) is composed of students from North East ISD, Alamo Heights ISD, San Marcos ISD, and Comal ISD, Schertz-Cibolo ISD, and Judson ISD.
- Students will audition for the orchestra that is appropriate for their ability level. There are two orchestras: Philharmonic and Symphony, with symphony being the highest ability orchestra in our region. Auditions are held in October however students should be practicing daily on their try out music by going to morning rehearsals or taking private lessons, or BOTH!
- Auditions are extremely important and nothing should be planned on that day except All-Region Auditions. Please do not schedule a private lesson, go to an athletic practice, or anything that might cause you to be late or absent.
- Auditions are "blind" meaning that the selected judges will not be able to see you. They are sitting behind a curtain, while the rest of the students in the room wait patiently for their turn to play the music.
- Audition results will be posted after the audition. Students may wait for their audition result, or they may leave the audition site and receive their result from Mr. Cavazos on the following morning. Students who choose to stay will wait in the warm up room for results to be posted. Results will be posted anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours after the audition.
- If you are selected to be a member of the All Region Orchestra, you will be FULLY RESPONSIBLE for attending ALL rehearsals and learning music for the concert which is listed on the Contract Form. If you know that you will not be able to attend, DO NOT AUDITION.
